luxury labels

Can you really buy Collette Dinnigan at the op shop? The Salvation Army store in St Kilda seems to think so (cnr Inkerman Street and St Kilda Road).

You do occasionally come across luxury labels in the op shop - they're usually a bit obscure though. I've certainly never seen Prada or Gucci but have come across Yves St Laurent, Marni, Polo. The most luxe item I've ever bought is a men's Romeo Gigli jacket. Perhaps they have these special designer sales on a regular basis because at the time when I enquired about the price ($50 - whoa) the staff member said something to the effect that it was left over from the designer sale. I'm glad that I didn't buy it at the sale (for $50) as he sold it to me for $15. What's your swishest op shop purchase?

Anyway, I'm not counting on there being any bargains this Friday but I will be there at 8:59am.

It's not clothing but in June 2006 I found two Kartell Anna Castelli 4970 units in white (with wheels) for $10. For both.

yes I have lucked across the occasional name brand, like an old Gucci handbag that I bought for $10, but really was so ugly I was never going to use it, so I donated it back recently! My best finds have all been for my daughter, like Italian shoes($15), and french clothes(blue french velvet jacket $5) and more (an oilily t-shirt for $2. So I wouldn't be expecting much either, but I think I will probably be there after school drop off, especially since it is down the end of my street!

My best find would have to be a burgundy wool comme de garcons top at doncare in doncaster. When i saw the label and how nice the top was i must say i got a little more than excited. I'll put a pic of that one up in my next post i think..OH and another designer label purchase were my green snake skin salvatore ferragamo heels. Also a bit on the exciting side. I'll post them too.

My best buy was a ralph lauren polo shirt brand new for $3 that I picked up 6 years ago at my local St Vinnies. I still wear it to this day...
BTW, I just came across your blog and LOVE it!!!

Most El Swisho label probably belonged to a pair of vintage YSL dark green sunglasses for $6 at the Parish Bargain Shop in Flemington. PS I am aiming to get to Southport Goodwill as soon as is humanly possible...hopefully they're open on Saturdays. i really want to have a barley sugar/watercress sandwich with Elsie and i have nae even clapped eyes on her yet!

I bought a pair of Gucci slip on sandals from my daggy old Council op shop last year for $5. (Sadly, it's closed down now). The volunteers there said they often had vintage designer shoes there over the years.

I didn't have time to go in but I walked past the op shop in Malvern, just down from Embroidery house, during the hols and it had a lot of designer items in the window. Bet they weren't cheap though!!!
