Blame it on the Hormones

Sometimes it's best not to set forth with money buring a whole in your pocket and just stay home and eat a packet of chocolate bullets.

Otherwise you're likely to come home with a red satin cowboy shirt.

Or one of these (the description defies me).

Actually I love the red satin shirt. It got a horrified reaction when I took in back to work but it got the big thumbs up on Saturday night. Taste is all a matter of context I guess. The office is not place for satin or cowboys. And the Kaftan top? Love that too. Both were bought at the Save the Children's oppy cnr Glenferrie Road and Riversdale in Hawthorn. $20 for the shirt which is well over twice the amount I would normally pay but...hey? I can't remember how much for the kaftan top.

Now where did I put those chocolate bullets?

Ha! I love it.

All you need to do now is sign up for a line-dancing class.

Haha, sometimes I look at older thrift finds and think, "What was I thinking???". But that's the amazing thing about thrift shopping - it lets us experiment with different styles we otherwise wouldn't have spent more than a few bucks on. I like the caftan top!

I bought a scarlet red satin shirt once at an opshop many years ago, but never wore it anywhere because the man in my life at the time said I looked like a tart in it. Oh dear...it eventually ended up back at an op shop.

I would have kept the shirt and dumped the man Gina E. Luckily (for him) my fella loved the shirt. I wore it with bright red lip-stick and a push-up bra. I hope I did look like a tart.

ROFLMAO Stella! It was my first husband actually and I did dump him. He said a lot worse than that to me over the six years we were married! My husband now is a conservative bloke and probably wouldn't like me looking tarty, but he wouldn't be so blunt. But I do have other friends who think 'tarts' are great ;-)

Stella, I love both, but would only have the courage to wear the second one! Good for you, I bet you looked awesome in your lucky op shop find :)

Good for you Gina E. You made the right decision and it could not have been easy.
Thanks Ren. Yes, Grunge Queen you are right, it is good to get it wrong sometime and because it is 'thrift' you don't mind too much and also 'thrift' let's you get away with stuff. Or just hang out with people who dress more oddly than yourself.
