The Glitz and the Glamour

Oh my life is so glamorous it's unbelievable, Vegemite up my jumper, cat biscuits through the kitchen, don't get me started on the washing placed just by the basket, not quite in it but just by it!!

Possible why when I'm off out op shopping I'm drawn to the not so casual.

One of my local shops Family Life in Chelsea had this 80s strapless floral number - 50% off? Yes please, pretty peachy pink please! Great shop with a boutique feel but still reasonable (op shop) prices and the music always makes me happy, think Rat Pack.

This was bought on the Melbourne Op Shop Tour I went on hosted by Erica of Recycled Fashion that was featured on Coxy's Big Break last weekend, yes I can be seen but I kept my mouth shut for fear of saying something like "Radical", "Down with the kids" or "Da Bomb".  I have a habit of making an idiot of myself when there's a big enough audience and national telly was too dangerous!  It's a gorgeous cotton maxi dress that I think is stunning.  It was bought from Vinnies and had 20% off with an extra 10% discounted because we were on the tour.

Finally this is such a great colour and really timeless I think and also bought on the Op Shop tour in Brighton

It's great to see adorable clothes being donated to charity and people valuing Op Shops and the reuse of goods in general.  I've always wanted to volunteer but with having a toddler committing to a set time has been an issue.  I have now managed to raise over $1,000 for the Salvation Army by listing clothes purchased from their Chelsea Heights Shop on Ebay - latest listing here including a Trelise Cooper skirt on at 99c!  Dogstar Bazaar

Cardigan (Seems to be alot of them at op shops all over at the moment!)

Picked up this cute little cropped cardigan at Salvo's Dandenong (Lonsdale St) for $2.50 (it was $5 but it was one of the 50% coloured tag items of the week!) It's kind of quirky, not sure where it is from, but the care instructions tag inside is all in Hebrew so I'm guessing it has travelled a while to make it to this op shop :)

The dress was from the same op shop, is Teaberry brand... and I have mentioned it in a prior blog post (cannot remember cost off the top of my head sorry)

Finally Ablaze!

For over a year I have been on the hunt for an op shop blazer. Retailers don't appear to make a casual style blazer in any other colour than black or gray, they are pricey and to be frank they just make things like they used to! I am still after something in a navy, brown or olive but this has really help stave off that blazing hunger for a while! From that same op shop in Kew I have blogged about previously, next to the church on High St. Apologies for being quiet in latey, it's been busy! I have a few more op shop gems I will share soon, Style Tweak x

frock anyone???

.... I love to collect old, dresses, coats, blouses well anything really!

It's one of those real hit and miss affairs, waiting patiently to discover a forgotten gem.
Going for ages and coming away with nothing, such is this game we all play!

I struck it pretty lucky on Friday though with 4 amazing dresses in one place and for only $2 a piece.
Sheer orange/tangeriney goodness, with a very full skirt and petticoat.

Both are tiny sizes and I would have to have several ribs removed and lose about 30 kgs to even try them on.
I think I will keep them for the girls to wear to their first dance or fancy party or just to dress up and swan around!

The huge amount of pleating and pin tucking with starchy yellow polyester makes my heart sing!!

Not sure of their ages as I'm pretty shocking at dating this kind of thing.

Now to some frocks that actually fit! All from the same shop Vietnam Vets Op Shop, Erica St Boronia. Both handmade from what I can make out.

A pull on stretchy blue number with a sweet scalloped neckline, missing the tie but I'm sure I can improvise!

And finally a watermelon georgette beauty,I think this one is begging to be worn to church!

So I may go for months or even longer before i hit it this lucky again, and that's fine by me!!
