Opshop buyer becomes opshop seller!

The Brotherhood shop in Eltham have lost two of their most dedicated volunteers recently, so there was a desperate sign in the window asking for new volunteers. On my weekly visit, I asked the lady in charge what days did they need workers, and she just about fell on her knees in gratitude! Looks like I start on Monday 26th of this month. Told hubby I had a little job at the opshop, and he raised his eyebrows and said "But you don't get paid, do you?" Men...one track minds.

Fantastic! I volunteered at the Brotherhood of St Laurence in Brunswick Road a few years ago. It was a great experience.

My hubbie and I go nuts when we enter an op shop and have to listen to the old ladies yacking away loudly. Hopefully you will enjoy some chatter but will know when to stop!

Also, please don't get too serious about making a sale. Give away something every now and again as let's face it it brings goodwill.

And try to keep price perspective - by that I mean LOW well below new retail value. Make someone's day - you know what I mean the feeling that you walked into an op shop and scored a bargain. A REAL BARGAIN.

It is lovely of you to volunteer and I wish for you to keep beautiful op shop karma and pay it forward.
