Where eagles dare... otherwise known as Rowville Salvos

I found this amazing batik material for $3.99 at the Rowville Salvos a week or so ago (have been a bit busy to take photos... as usual...). Actually it was less than $3.99 because it was in a bag with about 5 other big pieces of material... so more like under $1!! Not sure where it's from originally, Indonesia or Malaysia maybe?

The design is of eagles soaring over a m
iddle ground of plants and then lots of little birds in the foreground down the bottom.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, probably I'll make it into a wallhanging when I eventually get around to it... how cool is the design, although the eagles are a bit scary!

Oakleigh Opping

These were my finds on a trip the op shop in Station Street, Oakleigh in December. Above is a photograph album, $3. On my next visit, I may mention that masking tape does not make a great substitute for sticky labels - despite my best efforts the tape pulled off a chunk of the cover and made an unsightly mark. Sigh.

A set of gouache paints from China, barely used, $5. I'd say maybe three of the tubes have been opened. Gouache makes lovely colours :)

And lastly, a batik square from the 50 cent box. I'm not sure if it's a very small tablecloth or a scarf, but its intended purpose in my hands is fabric yardage - it will be part of a tunic top, I think.
