Three Great Op Shops Worth the Drive

This turned up on The Age's website today:

Think I'll start casting my net further afield especially as the Savers stores are so picked over.

Hi there,

My parents live in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne and I make a point of visiting the op shops near their house. I think becasue the area is not know op-shopping I always seem to find something that is gold. I highly recommend the drive.

Love your blog!

Interesting comments on that article. I think some people get a bit 'precious' about opshops. They talk about 'their' opshops, which don't belong to anyone, so it is a case of first in, best dressed. As for a shop having nothing left, the workers at a good opshop are constantly re-stocking with incoming donations. I know with our BSL, all donations are sorted out as they are brought into the shop. Anything unsaleable is put into the bin, and the rest is sorted into categories, ready to be priced and put on the shelves. Many of our regulars come in every day, or at least several times a week, because they know the turnover is high, and replacement stock is on the shelves quickly.
