All fine and Dandy-nong

Despite knowing that Savers was having a sale on Monday, I couldn't restrain myself last Friday and hit Uniting Care and Vinnies in Dandenong (well, I had to warm up for the Savers sale, right?). I got a few things which I haven't taken pictures of yet and which look horrible on me at the moment anyway so I'll post about them on my own blog once I've altered them.

I also got this cute little brown wool cape for $5 at Vinnies - for once I bought something that is fine as-is, although I am considering adding some leather buttons which I found at Vinnies Ferntree Gully a while ago... or should I just leave it like this? (Full outfit pic here)
Seeing as I didn't end up getting anything exciting at the Savers sale on Monday, here are two recent purchases from there that ARE exciting...
Clip-on earrings in the shape of leaves with acorns on them (or berries, as they don't seem to be oak leaves, so why would they be acorns?) for $4.99:

A potholder (on the reverse of the label it says this brand make teacosies so it's my uneducated guess that this might be quite old, as I don't recall seeing new teacosies anywhere recently) which I think was about $2.
I love the retro print and colours, but obviously the person who donated it didn't, as the packet hasn't even been opened!

I never usually find anything in the Vinnies in Dandenong... and the Uniting Care is slightly overpriced but I find they have nice homewares.

The earrings are fabulous!

And yay for buying something still in its packaging unopened! I wonder how longer someone had kept that in their house unopened??

I am the complete opposite to you - you have a very creative eye and are always looking for ways to alter/improve the item... I am hopeless with that type of thing so if I buy something it pretty much has to be good to go! hahaha!

Yes, agree re Uniting Care and most of their stuff is too shiny and new for me but jumpers are better new than all pilly and stretched, so was quite happy to find the jumper...
Having a "creative eye" is a blessing and a curse because I buy stuff and then don't do anything to it... it sits around the house for years sometimes (I think 18 years is my record, maybe you saw the post that I did about that?!)

Very pretty pot holder. I think the reason so many oven mitts turn up in opshops is because so many people don't cook much any more, so they don't need oven mitts!

I know I'm very late with this (just a couple of years) but I thought you'd like to know that your oven mitt is in the powerhouse museum. circa 1978 http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/collection/database/?irn=133669&search=donald+clark&images=&c=&s=

Thanks so much for that information! I was really excited about it! Now if only I could remember where I put the pot holder, I think it's in a box of treasures in the garage...
