I don’t often experience the ick factor with the things I buy from op shops. This coffee machine was just $3 at the church op shop in Kilmore. The coffee baskets and holder were in very good condition, but there was water in the tank which would’ve been there God knows how long, and a component of the top lid showed some signs of metal corrosion. I haven’t been able to bring myself to use it. Would you? More on my blog.

Just give it a good scrub. I'm sure it will be fine.

If there ever were any germs in it, they will have been sterilised the last time it was used. Or the next.
I agree with Liz, just give it a scrub! I bet far worse things are seen in the back of some cafes...

Yes - I have cleaned coffee machines before with vinegar. Just put through a dummy cycle with vinegar instead of water. Mine works fine.

...And if you're still experiencing the ick factor, I'll buy it from you! Looks cute!

I'd still use it. It looks like a brilliant machine. Run it through without coffee a few times (just with water)... Or I think Amy is on the right track. Pruxxx
